Reinventing Albanian Cuisine
Albanian cuisine needs to reinvented in a modern way based on old traditions, same as local chefs are doing all over the world, finding back to its countries culinary roots and reinventing it, based on local and seasonal produce. This is a global trend that contributes to preserving and developing cultural heritage in a sustainable way, a strong counterforce to globalisation and mass produced industrial food
There are a few Albanian chefs working on these tasks, but this community is very small with limited resources. To strengthen this community and to turn this trend, we need a strong professional community, we need to engage the elite, wherever they are in; Albania, Kosova, Macedonia Montenegro and especially abroad; Albanian Diaspora
Tirana - 18 September 2018
After having identified and being in contact for long time with more than 30 successful Albanian expat chefs working at renowned restaurants worldwide we invited 12 of the chefs to our kick-off event that took place in Tirana, on 18th of September 2018.
During this event we facilitated discussion, experimentation, reflection and collaboration among our chefs. We tried to discover the evolution of Albanian food systems, their historic, social, geographical, economic influence and impact on the Albanian cuisine
